My Mother: She was the type of woman who defined Homemaker. I’ve spent my whole life tying to do what she taught me to do.

  2. Woman of Style: Audrey Hepburn, Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis, Elsie de Wolfe, Coco Chanel.
  3. Travel: To the next town or abroad.
  4. Artisans and Craftsmen: I respect what they do. I admire what they do. All in the pursuit of beauty.
  5. Gardens: All of my travels, scrapbooks, and notes translate to my own gardens.
  6. Color: Particularly in nature. Color comes from nature. I wouldn’t look anywhere else. For color, I look to nature first. It’s as simple as looking out your window.
  7. My Home: Being there, puttering around, nesting, making it better, enjoying it.
  8. House Museums: I love history, aand I love to see how people lived in an earlier time. Some of my favorites are Nissim de Camondo in Paris, Malmaison for Empress Josephine in France and Monticello, Thomas Jefferson’s house where I am a trustee for the purpose of preserving it.
  9. Street Walking, Wandering, Absorbing, SEEING: I take my camera (Cannon GL 12) and off I go!
  10. Scrap-booking, Collaging: I fill books with pictures of rooms, pictures of women, auction catalog, photos, museum postcards, scraps of wallpaper and gift wrap, photo’s from my travels like doorknobs from Italy, sunflowers seen in Provence, or a detail from a bed skirt.
  11. Entertaining My Friends: As my mother and grandmother said, “Wehn it comes to your friends, knock yourself out…isn’t that the point?”
  12. The Qualities In A Person: Curiosity, humor, honesty, and generosity. Authenticity always inspires me.
  13. Rosamond Bernier: I am inspired by and aspire to lecturing like Rosamond…rapid, knowledgeable, humorous, engaging…perfection.!
